The honesty discount

Telling the truth, especially early, is the most underpriced business strategy available.

An essay by Dustin Michael Drozd

There is a short-term cost to honest answers. The deal that does not close. The expectation that has to be reset. The conversation you would rather not have.

There is also a long-term compounding return that almost nobody is patient enough to wait for. People remember being told the truth. They tell other people.

The honest contractor in any market eventually becomes the one a community defaults to. Not because of advertising. Because of repetition of small honest moments.

It is one of the few business strategies that gets cheaper to execute the longer you do it.
